Pureology Hydrate Shampoo and Conditioner

I started going gray when I was about 24, and have been getting my hair colored for almost ten years. During that time, I’ve tried all sorts of shampoos and conditioners — both drugstore brands and higher-end ones — and yet nothing compares to Pureology.

I’ve never spent this much on a shampoo and conditioner until I started using Pureology Hydrate, but this combo really does work to leave your hair silky soft and to keep the color vivid and vibrant. The way I justify the cost is that I honestly can go much longer between color appointments at the salon. I used to have to get my highlights and overall color done every eight weeks since it would really fade when I used other products, but now my stylist only has to do root touch-ups (to hide the grays) when I go in — and I can go every two appointments for my color.

Don’t expect a lot of lather when you use the shampoo; it doesn’t create a lot of suds, but it’s still doing its job. I also love the mint smell of the conditioner; it provides a nice tingle on your scalp when you use it.

The other big plus is that this really does make your hair feel healthy and soft. I use a flat iron almost every day (really, really bad — I know!), but, since I’ve started using this, my hair doesn’t have the split ends and damage that it used to. It feels soft and looks shiny. I also use CHI Silk Infusion before blowing my hair dry, and the combo has made my hair look the best that it ever has.

I wanted to try the “straight” versions of Pureology’s shampoo and conditioner, but have read reviews that say that they don’t make your hair as healthy as the Hydrate versions do, so I’m sticking to these. I have other friends who also use this product, and who also say that nothing else compares to it for keeping your color bright and vivid.

As another tip, my stylist recommends that you wait 48 hours before washing your hair after getting it colored so that the color has time to set. She mentioned that this is especially important if you have lowlights so that the darker color can oxidize with your hair. Rinsing is OK, just no shampoo.

Eliminating Long Hair Tangling After Shampooing

Don’t you hate it when your hair becomes so tangled up that your hair ends up looking like a big mess? We all have our own experiences when it comes to hair tangles and they are not really pretty memories that we would want to cherish or reminisce.

The good thing is that there are proven techniques on how to stop your hair from tangling into a complicated maze of hair strands and how to deal with it if in case it happens.

1. Use a volumizing shampoo if your hair is fine or thin. Usually fine and thin hair are prone to tangling and by using shampoos that add volume and movement to thin strands, you can minimize the chances of encountering tangles with your hair.

3. Avoid rubbing your hair vigorously with a towel. After taking a bath, people usually dry their hair by rubbing with towel. But this can only cause more tangling. The better way to dry your hair is to blot it gently with a towel.

5. Do not use a brush on hair that is already tangled. Remove the tangles first by gently pulling the strands with your fingers or a wide tooted comb.

6. Make a habit of combing your hair from the bottom upwards.

7. Do not allow your hair to fly freely in the wind unless you want to have a hair full of tangles afterwards.

8. Never wet your hair when it is already tangled because this will only worsen the situation. Instead, spritz the tangle with a shine serum spray and then massage the knotted area with the palms of your hands. This will help loosen up the tangled area. Untangle with your fingers or a wide toothed comb afterwards.

As many as one in four women will experience hair loss at some time in their lives. Women’s hair loss is difficult to pinpoint until it is in a progressive or severe stage.

Hair loss in women begins in most cases in the 40s or 50s at the onset of menopause, though it can occur as early as the 20s, and being seen in increasing numbers. According to the American Academy of Dermatology hair loss in women is a growing problem, affecting more than 30 million women in the United States alone.

Society accepts a bald man, but it’s not a socially acceptable for a woman to be bald in public. Female pattern baldness is just as common in women as it is in men, though the timing and pattern is different. Hair does not grow back to its previous stage of full thick hair. It does progress to various degrees of baldness. Women are better at disguising their hair loss than men, and in women it is generally less extensive in terms of severity. Many doctors immediately begin treating the patients with hair growth medications such as Rogaine. However, diagnosing the underlying medical problem with series of tests will benefit the patient in the long run. Although research is still in the early stages of assessing the causes of women’s hair loss improvements in treating underlying illness or abnormality in ones health is greatly improved in the past few years.
